Housing Technical Information

The MSE-XT220 Laser Distance Measurement Sensor a cast copper free aluminum explosion proof housing. The housing consists of 3 components. A center main body section with (2) 3/4"-14 NPT conduit entry points, an instrumentation section with a glass window cover, and a power section with a solid cover. The instrumentation section cover and the power section cover screws onto the main body and is secured with a set screw.

The center main body section is attached to aluminum mounting plate. Wiring to the laser is run to this section through the conduit entry points. 

The laser sensor electronic circuitry is packaged inside of the instrumentation section. The instrumentation section cover should never be removed except by authorized and certified factory service technicians

The housing meets Explosion Proof Certifications for Class I, Groups B, C, D; Class II, E, F, G; Class III, NEMA 7BCD and NEMA 9EFG. The housing can also be used in IP66 and NEMA 4X water tight applications. The housing has a corrosion resistant, "Safety Blue" polyester powder coating and utilizes stainless steel hardware.

Standard operating temperature range is -10°C (-4°F) to 50°C (122°F). An optional Factory Installed 24 VDC PTC Heater is available to allow operation down to -40°C (-40°F)

WARNING: TO PREVENT IGNITION OF HAZARDOUS DO NOT REMOVE THE POWER COVER WHILE CIRCUITS ARE ALIVE. KEEP ASSEMBLY TIGHTLY CLOSED WHILE IN OPERATION. FOR CLASS I GROUPS B,C,D CONDUIT SEALS ARE REQUIRED WITHIN 457mm (18in) .
