MSE-FMD95 Fiber Digital Remote Hot Metal Detector shown with switch cover removed.

The MSE-FMD95 Fiber Digital Remote Hot Metal Detector shown removed the protective mounting cradle and with programming switch cover removed exposing the upper and lower programming switches.

Threshold Settings: To accommodate variation in bar temperature and background IR, various precise threshold are programmable via covered switches from 270°C to 1,000°C ( 518°F to 1832°F) to ensure reliable switching with reference to both the displayed background and product IR signal. The trip level is set as fine adjustment and coarse adjustments. 9 levels of fine adjustments which correspond to unit trip points.10 levels of coarse adjustments which correspond to times ten trip points. The trip level span has a 0-109 scale allowing adjustment of the threshold trip level from 270-1000 degrees, this means, every trip unit level has a value of: (1000-270) /109 = 6.7℃.

Background Temperature: High background temperatures decrease the sensitivity of the Hot Metal Detector. This should be not a problem for MSE-FMD95 because it has a Processor controlled function to eliminate this effect. The threshold of the sensor is constantly adjusted during operation according to the background temperature. Thus the best value of threshold is adjusted automatically.

Response Time: The response time of theMSE-HMD85 is programmable from 1ms to 250ms to accommodate black spots on the bar.

Self-Check Facility: The MSE-HMD85 incorporates a remote self-check facility remotely energized by closed contacts that illuminates an internal IR LED to switch the detector and verify the' outputs are operating correctly. This facility allows the user to check the integrity of the optic head, lead, processor, electrical circuit and the signal connection in one operation.

Supply Voltage: The MSE-FMD95 will operate from either 24VDC or optional 80-240 VAC power input with a power consumption of 2 watts.

Hot Product Presence Outputs: Standard outputs include a cradle relay with SPNO, 240VAC, 7A Contact and a 20 ms response time, a fast reed relay with SPNO, 240VAC, 0.5A Contacts and th 2 ms response time, and both NPN/PNP transistor outputs rated 500 mA, 45VDC, 2A peak .

The MSE-FMD95 is a direct replacement for the MCSL Model MD9100 and Model MD95100 Hot Metal Detectors. Please contact us for additional information.
